Stroller Advice

Adjustable stroller handle: Save your back with this useful feature

Nowadays, you have the option of buying a baby stroller with an adjustable-handle, to cater to parents with varying heights. This is an important factor to consider when buying a new stroller, as the stroller height can cause inconvenience (if it’s not the right height for the parent).

A Lot of strollers now come with height adjustable handles that can be adjusted to suit parents of different heights. An adjustable stroller handle allows you to easily adjust the height of the handle.

However, this feature is likely to push up the cost of the stroller. So do you really need this feature on a stroller? Let’s find out.

Advantages of Height Adjustable Handles

If you are either tall or short, you will find that the adjustable Handle feature available on some strollers is a real boon. In fact, an adjustable height is super handy when you’re different heights.

For example, if you’re around 5′, you will need the handle to be much lower than everyone else. But if you’re well over 6′, you’ll need the handle to be much higher than what everyone else uses.

For many parents, this is the biggest deciding factor while selecting a stroller.

An adjustable handlebar provides parents with various height options so that they can maintain the best posture while pushing the stroller. A good posture while pushing won’t hurt your back.

Another advantage of an adjustable handlebar is that you get more walking space and can take longer strides. It means you don’t have to worry about kicking the rear of the stroller, which is usually the case with strollers that have a shorter handle height.

A lot of parents choose to leave the handle at a different height while jogging – keep it around mid-height for jogging. With this position, the stroller is slightly further always from you and allows you to take longer strides.

Stroller Handle Extenders

What if you already have a baby stroller and it doesn’t come with an Adjustable Handle? In that case, you need to buy a stroller handle extender.

Most bigger strollers come with height adjustable strollers, but that feature is typically not available in umbrella strollers. However, you do get extension handles (sold separately) for umbrella and other strollers.

In today’s world, almost everybody wants the best bang for their bucks and want the products they have purchased to last for a few years (at least in the case of baby strollers). When it comes to baby strollers, you will find a range of useful accessories such as kids glider boards, organizers, and more.

A Stroller handle extender is one such useful accessory/part.

It will leave you with sufficient space to walk comfortably while pushing the stroller; no need to walk hunchbacked.

While the adjustable stroller handle is a nice feature on any stroller, such strollers are not among the cheapest ones. So this is something that you should keep in mind.

But as mentioned, you can also buy handle extenders separately and attach it to any budget stroller.

Closing Thoughts

Ideally, the stroller is going to be easiest to use if the handle is at waist height. However, if a parent is extremely tall or short, you’ll need a stroller with an adjustable height handle. The point of adjustable handlebars is to allow short and tall parents from the same family to adjust the handlebar to make it easy for them to push the stroller. Many tall parents (who are well over 6 feet) have trouble with strollers. While the big strollers aren’t so bad, umbrella strollers can be really inconvenient for very tall parents (you do get extension handles for strollers though). Good thing is that nowadays, it’s easy to find strollers that come with height-adjustable handles. Please note that adjustable handlebars in strollers do not necessarily make the stroller more maneuverable.
