Top tips to prevent Stroller theft at Walt Disney World

Although Disney parks are popular places for families, your stroller can also be a theft target at Disney parks. These tips, along with a stroller lock, can keep your stroll safe at Disney and other theme parks.

Introduction

Each day, thousands of visitors (at Disney, Universal, and Sea World) park their strollers while lining up for the various rides or shows in the park. And because Disney parks prohibit visitors from taking strollers with them into lines, visitors have little choice but to park their strollers at designated locations.

And Disney its also a place where thieves lurk around trying to steal stuff tucked inside your stroller, At times, the strollers themselves are the targets.

“We felt so violated and broken-hearted to have something so cruel happen to us, especially in a place where we are supposed to be HAPPY,” says a parent whose stroller was stolen at WDW.

Safety Precautions

Here are some more safety precautions that you can take when you are out with your stroller. We have also listed a couple of more alternatives, in case you don’t wish to take your pricey stroller at the zoo or theme park.

Use a Stroller Lock
Use a lock so that nobody can take away your stroller from the parking lot. A stroller lock is small in size and easy to carry; you just have to tie the cable around the wheels.

And because these parks are private properties, you cannot ideally lock your stroller to stationary objects (bench, pole or tree). The officials at the theme park may decide to cut the cable and remove the lock.

Mark Your Name on the Stroller
At crowded places, there’s also a likelihood of your stroller getting picked up by someone else by mistake. Strollers can get lost, mixed up (or stolen) so its important to mark your stroller with your name and contact number.

There are many who write it under the seat. This way, others can identify your stroller and get back to you, in case yours get misplaced.

Buy a Cheap/Umbrella Stroller
If you’re really worried about your pricey stroller getting stolen, another option is to just get another cheap, lightweight, umbrella-type stroller that you can take anywhere in the city.

These are small, easy to maneuver, won’t attract lot of attention (from potential thieves), and you will not feel very bad if you were to lose it.

Rent a Stroller
Most parents hate leaving their stroller unattended but sometimes you have to, there are many places where you can’t bring it.

If you’re really worried that your stroller might get stolen, you could consider renting a stroller. It turns out expensive this way, but if you’re really concerned about your personal stroller being stolen, then renting is the only option.

A woman found that the stroller she uses for her daughter was stolen from her front porch; she took to the internet to record a message so that the thief could see it and return it back to its rightful owner.

Closing Thoughts

The officials at Disney feel that you’re responsible for your stroller. So you at least need to buy a stroller lock, such as the Buggyguard or Baby Lock ‘n Go. These locks can tie wheels together, making it impossible for a thief to take away your stroller.

Its also a good idea to place all your valuables in lockers, and not in the stroller, in order to avoid unnecessary attraction from possible thieves.
