Use a Safety Flag for stroller (trailer) to stay visible and safeguard your rides

Attaching a safety flag to a stroller or trailer helps improve visibility and prevents accidents. Never compromise on safety while strolling; stay safe and visible. Using a safety flag can be one piece of a comprehensive safety strategy that you must adopt when taking out your child in the stroller.

Why Use Safety Flags

Safety flags designed for strollers/trailers inform drivers of vehicles on the road to be careful when they approach the flag. Visibility is increased due to the orange flag and due to the additional height as the flag sits atop the pole. This is great when approaching intersections and for crossing traffic with poor sight lines.

Here are more benefits of using a safety flag on a stroller or trailer.

Enhanced Visibility: Attaching a safety flag to a stroller or trailer significantly improves visibility, especially in busy and crowded areas. The bright color and height of the flag make it easier for others, such as motorists and pedestrians, to spot the stroller or trailer from a distance.

The visual cue acts as a deterrent for inattentive (and careless) motorists and prompts the drivers to exercise greater caution and reduce their speed.

This is particularly important in situations where drivers might not expect to encounter pedestrians, such as when crossing roads or in parking lots. The flag serves as a proactive measure to avoid accidents and potential harm to the child and contributes to overall road safety

Heightened Awareness: When a safety flag is attached, it also serves as a constant reminder to the parent (or caregiver) to be mindful of the surroundings and look for potential hazards or obstacles that may pose a risk to the child’s safety. This increased awareness can be a valuable preventative measure.

Emergency Situations: A safety flag can also help in locating your stroller or trailer more quickly, especially in crowded places such as amusement parks or large events, where visibility might be obstructed. The flag can assist emergency responders or helpful individuals in identifying and reaching your stroller swiftly.

So, there are several benefits of attaching a safety flag to your stroller or trailer.

However, it should really not be the sole precaution taken to ensure your child’s safety.

You must also prioritize other safety measures, such as using seat belts and harnesses, maintaining appropriate supervision, and adhering to local traffic rules and regulations for your child’s overall safety.

Best Safety Flags for Stroller/Trailer

Avenir Safety Flag (Orange)

This is a three-piece flag, with each section about two feet in length, for three possible configurations (two, four, or six feet). Plastic connectors are used to link the segments together.

The flag has three parts to it: Base mount that attaches to the bike/stroller, interconnecting mount to connect the flag mount to the base mount, and flag mount that is attached via interconnecting mount.

This flag is sturdy and of good quality. It gets knocked around on low-lying branches and hasn’t broken or tattered. Even with our kids pulling it out and playing with it, it’s stood up fine.

These are great for bike trailers. It may require some ingenuity to attach it to things like a motorized scooter, but many owners have done it.
