Stroller Advice

Stroller Safari: You need a stroller at the zoo

Taking a stroller at Zoo, things to keep in mind. Most parents are stroller obsessed but the need for a stroller at a zoo is legitimate, as some of the zoos are HUGE. Even a five and six year old is going to need a break.

Most Zoos now also have a STROLLER SAFARI program, designed for kids. In this program, Moms, dads or any adult with a child in a stroller can explore the Zoo with an educator. Studies show that play time in nature promotes physical and emotional well-being, healthy social interaction and stimulates higher level thinking among children.

Things to Pack for the Zoo

What to pack while going to the zoo?
Here are some essentials – Diaper bag. Snacks. Water bottle. Stroller. Car seat.

Some kids don’t like to sit in the stroller, when in the zoo…they all are so excited. However, I would say you still take the stroller along, as the kids can get tired. Its also good for holding all the kids/baby stuff. And some kids love to push the stroller while walking and watching the animals.

So how many kids can you fit on a sit and stand stroller? Well, definitely a few, if its a short distance. This family were enjoying their beautiful day at the zoo, after along time.

The excited kids got tired after a while and decided to take a ride/rest on the stroller. There were more kids than what the stroller is designed for, but its okay for a short distance, and that too in a zoo (no risk from other vehicles).

Stroller at San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is huge and you will thank yourself if you get the stroller at this zoo.

You can take a stroller at rent at the zoo (they have stroller rentals) but they don’t look very comfortable. Besides, you shell out $12 for a single stroller, $16 for a double.

If you already own a stroller, take it along and it will work out really well. Baby Brother can take a nap and Big Brother can hitch a ride several times to take a break.

If there’s some occasion to celebrate, bring your own cupcakes/cake in a large stroller basket! The zoo does provide options for catered events.

Stroller Safari at Binghamton Zoo (Ross Park)

Some families with younger children headed to the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park for a “stroller safari”, an event that is held once a month during the summer.

The event gives families a chance to bring their smaller children to the zoo and take a look at the zoo’s exhibits when it’s less crowded.

It’s a hour and a half program that includes a special zookeeper talk, an up close animal encounter, and an activity page to take home.

It’s really a great experience watching the kids react to animals they’ve never even seen before.

The Binghamton Zoo is located at 60 Morgan Road in Binghamton. The admissions booth is open from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm daily and the zoo closes at 5:00 pm.

Safari Zoo Run (Stroller Walk), SINGAPORE

The Safari Zoo Run (held at the Singapore Zoo) is a fun event for kids too. Running at the zoo is an entirely new experience, the kids also get outdoor play time and sweat it out.

Depending on how old your kid is, you may want to get the stroller. In case you don’t wish to get the stroller, opt for the smaller race at the zoo.

Several families take part in the Safari Zoo Run (many with strollers) in Singapore every year. You can walk at a leisurely pace and even stop to take a closer look at the various animals in the Singapore Zoo.
