Its easy to teach your dog to sit and ride in a Stroller

Strollers and other forms of wheeled transportation are now becoming popular in the canine world. There are several reasons why your dog may need a pet stroller, but it can be a challenge to make your dog sit in the stroller (at least initially).

However, once your dog gets used to it, s/he is going to enjoy the outdoor ride – a great way to get rid of boredom and to get some fresh air.

Here are some useful tips on how to make your dog sit and ride in a stroller.

• Avoid forcefully picking up and keeping the dog in the stroller, especially if your dog is unsure or terrified.
• Keep the stroller inside the house for a couple of days so that your dog gets the time to check it out (investigate).
• Keep your dog’s favorite toys near the stroller (or in the stroller) so that your dog feels comfortable with the stroller.
• Keep your dog’s favorite food near the stroller; if s/he’s nervous, gradually move closer.

• Take the stroller out into the garden. If your dog feels uncomfortable or nervous, repeat the first few steps.
• Finally, you can hit the streets!

Be patient with your dog
While it may look like a tedious process, some dogs may get on to the stroller right away. For those who are more cautious, offering treats and toys will hasten the process.

Use the harness
Put a harness on your dog, and attach a leash that you hold, to prevent him jumping out in a stressful or uncomfortable situation. In crowded areas, its better to zip the awning and enclose the stroller to help your dog relax better.
