Best Uppababy Strollers

The Vista is a convertible stroller with reversing seat and matching bassinet. It’s the all-in-one stroller for moms who want maximum versatility. The Cruz is slightly smaller and doesn’t come with a bassinet, but is ideal for moms who still want a stylish stroller with reversing seat. And then the new G-Link is UPPAbaby’s first double stroller that’s gotten highly favorable first impressions.

Uppababy has launched a new compact stroller MINU and a new car seat for the European market.

Let’s take a closer look at the fabulous UPPAbaby strollers!

Uppababy MINU

The new Uppababy MINU stroller is a compact, lightweight stroller designed for daily use.

It offers several modern conveniences, you can store everyday essentials in the large, easy access basket and recline the seat with ease for naptime. Lightweight design (weighs under 15 lbs) and all-wheel suspension ensures a smooth ride.

One-handed compact fold and a convenient carry strap makes it simple to take on the go.

G-Lite

The UPPAbaby G-Lite is a light umbrella stroller that is a smaller and lighter version of the G-Luxe model. Weighs just 11.2 pounds (frame plus seat), but is sturdy enough to hold a child up to 55 pounds. Perfect stroller for all those everyday errands, public transit and for vacation travel.

G-Lite has a soft, cushy seat pad (removable and washable). Tall ergonomic handles, hand-operated opening triggers (no need to unfold with your foot), elevated rear frame for comfortable walking. Mesh sling seat for breathability and comfort without adding weight. Zipper recline, Larger knit canopy with extendable SPF 50+ sunshade, and easy maneuverability.

G-Lite is among the “lightest strollers on the block” and a best buy. Most parents use it for convenience, vacation travel and like its easy maneuverability.

G-Luxe

The UPPAbaby G-Luxe weighs just 11 pounds (one of the lightest strollers) and yet it can hold your child up to 50 pounds. It reclines to 120 degrees (not completely flat) and comes with an enormous SPF50 sun canopy.

Folding triggers under the stroller handles, which means you won’t need to bend down to release anything or get your feet involved, and it’s quick and easy to fold. Once folded it stands up by itself.

Besides the clever folding mechanism, this lightweight stroller weighs just 7.2kg and it has a carry strap so you can easily sling it over your shoulder – useful for holidays or when going up and down stairs.

Compact stand-alone fold and the big SPF50 sun canopy. Easy maneuverability.

The G-Luxe is often compared to the Maclaren Triumph.

Perfect for going on family vacations, taking it on airplanes for trips abroad, and keeping it in the car trunk for everyday errands.

It’s among the best umbrella strollers you can buy today.

G-Link

With the G-Link, UPPAbaby has taken the G-Luxe and doubled it, and added some useful features for both mom and children. This one is a double umbrella stroller.

Each seat has a carrying capacity of 50 pounds, and yet the stroller only weighs 241/2 pounds.

Newborns can ride in this stroller, baby is cocooned with a head support pillow, a cushioned barrier at the top of the seat that is fully enclosed, and a snap on mesh boot at the bottom of the seat.

Big SPF 50 sun canopies, easy to steer because of the light frame and wheels. One brake at the rear for one-step stopping.

Parents get a cup holder, storage baskets beneath the seats and deep pockets on the backs of the canopies provide plenty of space to keep your essentials. An easy free-standing fold with carry handle.

Cruz V2

UPPAbaby Cruz is a reversing seat UPPAbaby stroller, but lighter than the Vista. It’s placed between the lighter weight G-Luxe and the premium Vista in terms of weight and features.

The seat is full-sized with reversing option, and it reclines all the way. Use an infant car seat adapter for your car seat as well, or set the UPPAbaby MESA right on the chassis with no adapter needed.

Features a large, extending sun canopy, adjustable height handle, one-step easy fold (with or without the seat attached).

However be aware that this model does not come with a bassinet, a rumble seat cannot be used and you cannot use a Vista seat on this model. A snack tray and stroller board for an older sibling is now available (optional).

The Cruz has excellent handling and is the solution for on-the-go parents who want all the features and style of a full-sized stroller in a more compact size.

Vista V2

UPPABaby Vista V2 is one of the more popular, best-selling and well-made luxury convertible stroller. The performance stroller system has several new features (and fashions) including, an extended bassinet, new front wheel design, and 100% premium leather accents on all fashions. Whether you have a single child or two, the Vista is excellent as a single or a double stroller and switching between the options is seamless.

It includes a feature-rich bassinet. Include a comfortable, full-sized seat that reclines and is also easy to reverse. High quality materials, offers smooth steering and convenience, and has modern beautiful style. Huge storage basket, telescoping height-adjustable handle, large rubber tires takes you smoothly over bumpy park terrain. Weighs only 27 1/2 pounds with the main seat attached.

You can turn this stroller into a double when you buy the rumble seat separately or buy your Vista as a double. It is compatible with all major brand car seats (with the right adapter sold separately, or click the UPPAbaby MESA right onto the frame). The Vista now holds two car seats or two bassinets and is a fantastic option for parents with twins.

The UPPABaby Vista is a premium stroller that uses high quality materials, has smooth steering, looks modern & beautiful. Top features include a comfortable, full-sized seat that is easy to reverse and recline, huge storage basket, large rubber tires.

MESA

The MESA infant car seat remains top-rated in safety by maximizing ease of use to minimize error, allowing parents to move forward with confidence and security.

UPPAbaby has also introduced the MESA i-Size infant car seat to the European market. MESA i-Size infant car seat is R129 compliant and intuitively designed to install easily.

Uppababy’s Strategy to Win the Stroller Wars

Uppababy & Bugaboo are battling it out to be the favorite brand among discerning parents and celebrities, with their luxury offerings.

When Bugaboo first launched a high-end stroller, although it was iconic and beautiful, it was not quite right for the American market (the luxury stroller was pricey, tricky to fold without an instruction manual.) On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have reasonably pried, but uncool strollers—brands like Graco with plastic frames and clunky designs.

Then came along the Uppababy Vista (targeted the sweet spot in between) that was sleek, chic, and user-friendly. It was a streamlined, stylish, then-$599 stroller with a frame made of black aluminum alloy and interchangeable seats that snapped in and out like puzzle pieces, a luxe bassinet for newborn sleeping, and an upright toddler seat to swap in for older children.

Still, Uppababy wasn’t always an easy sell.

With the market divided into two camps—Bugaboo and the more affordable, old-school brands—most mass-market baby retailers said there was no room for a middle ground.

Ten years later, Uppababy is winning the stroller wars.

Not only is it popular among parents, Uppababy has also become the chosen stroller among celebrities.

  • Reese Witherspoon pushes a Vista
  • Mark Zuckerberg chose the lighter stroller model, Cruz
  • Sofía Vergara’s Modern Family character even brought her new baby home in Uppababy’s Mesa car seat

Uppababy stroller has come out of nowhere to be a dominant player in the market by making products that appealed to parents (especially older and higher-earning parents) who wanted stylish (and not dull and uninspiring) strollers.

Uppababy, and particularly their Vista stroller model, has emerged a non-snobby status symbol. Available at under $1000, Uppababy considers it “attainable luxury,” compared to four-figure brands like Bugaboo, Stokke, or Orbit. (“I love an Orbit stroller; I think they’re beautiful. But if my mom found out I spent almost $2,000 on a stroller, I think she would stroke out,” said a parent).

Historically a typical Bugaboo customer was: “I’m buying a stroller, and I want the most expensive one because I want other people to know”. But over the last decade, as the economy floundered, fewer people are buying strollers for the sake of status.

Uppababy opts for the power of word of mouth, rather than traditional advertising. “I don’t believe in advertising at all, because I knew, as a parent, that nobody goes through a magazine, sees a picture of a stroller, and says, ‘I’m going to buy that one,’ said an executive.

“Moms recommended Uppa like crazy. That word of mouth, like a virus, just spread everywhere. That’s really what exploded for us.”

“People no longer want to have a Maclaren double. You want the G-Link stroller (and the Mesa car seat)” – Uppa’s latest offerings.

Creating a well-designed, relatively affordable stroller was in some ways the easy part. The real challenge was building up a customer service department that could cater to their hyper-knowledgeable clients.

Uppababy built an in-house team, rather than an outsourced hotline, and a director of customer service who works closely with the research-and-development team to report customer feedback.

The conference room at Uppababy’s Hingham headquarters is lined with competing strollers of various brands and price points (including Bugaboo, Maclaren, and Peg Perego); they are examined and tested for “pain points”. You don’t want to make the mistakes other companies have. And you don’t know what those mistakes are until you buy competitive products and tear them apart.
