Stroller Skating: Let your inner kid get out

Want some more fun? Get yourself inline skates (and better still, go for stroller skating). It surely is fun to let your inner kid get out and get your skate on.

As a kid, if you have spent hours upon hours in your roller skates skating around the garage and driveway, then its time to do it again. Its a great form of exercise as well, and it doesn’t feel like exercise at all because it’s so much fun.

Stroller Skating

Stroller skating is a bit easier than simply skating on your own. That’s because the stroller acts more like a walker and helps to support you.

Most rinks offer special stroller skating hours. There are several moms who do this with their younger children and have a blast.

There are several moms who skate with their little one in the stroller, and its perfectly alright so long as you’re mindful of your speed. If you’re have a stroller that has a handbrake, its even better.

Its common to see Stroller skaters on the beach bicycle trails of Southern California, especially on the Santa Monica and Venice Beach trails.

Ice-Skating With Stroller

There are some ice skating rinks that allow the use of the rink by moms during non-peak hours. You can rent ice skates, secure your baby safely in the stroller, and get on that ice to have some fun, while pushing the stroller around.

And when you’re happy kids love it too, because you end up talking more to your little one. And kids love being pushed around on ice while being seated in the comforts of their stroller.

In case you will be stepping foot on ice after a long time, the stroller will help you keep balance while you get back your rhythm. Spend a few minutes (pushing it slowly) and your body will remember what to do.

Father ice-skates with little toddler in pram/stroller
A woman in Ufa (Russia) filmed the video when she went skating at a rink. She says, “The baby father was doing it so cleverly, apparently, it’s not the first time he’s done this. But most importantly, he was very happy.”

To sum it up, in case you do not enjoy walking or jogging, you may start with skating. Here are some tips to stay safe, in case you wish to start skating with your stroller. Avoid the streets as they can get too crowded. Go to a park instead where you have more open space and you can take bigger strides. Be careful about slopes; you need to have the skills to control the speed when you approach downward gradients (in addition to engaging the stroller brakes). It’s best to skate at a reasonable speed, maybe the same as your jogging speed; even though it may limit your skating experience, it is safer.
