The stroller seat is where the child is going to spend most of the time so it needs to be comfortable to sit on. It also needs to be adjustable. The good thing is that nowadays the seat on most strollers can be swapped for different kinds of seats and bassinet. Here are some more things about the seat of the pushchair that every parent should be aware of.

Seat needs to have adequate padding

Strollers that lack padding of the seat are uncomfortable as the child can feel the frame through the cushion; so, a well-padded pushchair seat is a must for a child.

The good thing is that all strollers feature a padded seat. On lightweight/umbrella strollers, the amount of padding may be less in order to make the stroller more compact.

Reclining Seat

Most stroller seats recline/folds back (but may not recline a lot). A reclining seat is a great feature that allows the child to have a mid-walk snooze.

For new-borns, you need a seat that can fold all the way down (flat); the seat recline should be at least 150 degrees.

Stroller seats that do not lie flat are generally suitable for kids from 6 months.

The seat’s recline mechanism should be easy-to-use and it should firmly lock into the recline position.

Seat Liners & Upholstery

The seat is also the part of the stroller which can get dirty, if not cleaned for a long time.

Another easy way to give your stroller a new look is to change the upholstery, or use new fabrics. You can choose from a wide range of seat liners, covers, color packs, fabrics, upholstery.

More Features

Lot of strollers nowadays allow you to replace the seat with a car seat or a bassinet for infants. Some even let you add an additional seat to convert the stroller into a double stroller for a growing family.

Many strollers come with an extendable seat and footrest features to keep your little one comfortable in the seat.

Most strollers also offer storage space under the stroller seat and a sunshade at the top of the seat.

How to recline (adjust) the seat in a stroller

Most strollers come with a reclining function that allows you to adjust the angle of the seat (the reclining feature is not available on all strollers).

In case your stroller has one, remember its a simple process to adjust the seat, it doesn’t require any specialized skills.

You just have to press a button and lower or raise the back of the seat, till it comes to the desired position. Once you’re happy with the position, just release the button.

How to remove (replace) the seat from a stroller (seat replacement)

Here’s how to remove (replace) the entire seat from a stroller.

The seat is worn out, or the buckles are not working? You may want to remove the stroller/car seat and probably get it replaced. Checkout these videos to help you do that.

How to remove (replace) the seat from a stroller (seat replacement)

The mechanism to remove the stroller seat differs from stroller to stroller, although its not very difficult to figure out. You can check the stroller user manual to see how the various parts fit in together.

On certain strollers (especially the cheaper ones), you may have to remove more screws in order to remove the seat, whereas on the more expensive strollers you may find an easier way to remove the stroller seat.

Comfort is one of the key requirements of a stroller, for both your baby and you. If your baby is uncomfortable while in the stroller or you don’t find it comfortable enough to use it, then there won’t be much use of the stroller. So the seat needs to have plush padding and should not get sweaty.
